ThIs wild life …

For over 20 years I’ve helped people heal from injuries, pain, inflammation. Throughout this time I’ve also been on a quest to better my own and my kids health.

I am a teacher, therapist and writer most well known for my ability to help women find their way back to good health but also, within my community where I live in Nicaragua, people know about my organic farm, guest cottage and yoga studio ‘Apothefinca’ where I grow medicinal herbs and veggies.

I’ve always been on a quest. A quest to feel free and inspired by life physically and emotionally. I used to think that by following my dreams everything would work out well. Now I know dreams are just starting points with glimmers of truths padded by ideas that often need deconstructing, refining and re-envisioning. Exploring dreams and almost being broken by the reality of trying to achieve them has helped me understand the kind of healing work many of us need.

Through my twenties I practiced and taught yoga whilst I learnt the hands on healing arts ‘Osteopathy’ and ‘Craniosacral Therapy’. Then through my thirties I treated thousands of clients, created a beautiful little family, lived in Canada and opened a holistic health clinic.

BUT In my late thirties I found myself exhausted. I was auto-immune achey, overly entangled in working and mothering in a way that was depleting me. Eventually I found myself sitting in front of a life coach who told me sternly ‘STOP!’.

And I did. I stopped. I told my clients I was going to take a 3 month sabbatical to write a book. But it took 3 years. And in the process I sold my clinic, moved to Central America, said goodbye to marriage, and rekindled my love of movement and teaching. And I recovered from pain and inflammation so I could move freely and be a better, more loving mom and more focused on my work.

Maybe you’ve shared similar joys and struggles?

  • Maybe like me you stopped believing you were beautiful after having children.

  • Maybe your body stopped feeling comfortable some time ago.

  • Maybe you're wondering if your chronic pain or your low grade depression is normal.

Along the way - and deeply important to me - I wrote. Writing a novel and then starting another kept me grounded and feeling purposeful. Writing was a bridge that enabled me to take my next step, and my next, and ultimately build a home on a 5 acre jungle property and create a place of beauty. I still write. And one day perhaps I’ll be able to publish what I’ve written.

You can listen to some of my writing HERE.

Here are a few other things you might like to know about me:

  • When I move in dance, yoga, or create my own sequences, I feel a joy of self-expression which makes me feel more alive, brighter, stronger. I nourish my body in this way and I can teach you to do exactly the same. You don’t have to be a movement expert to learn what I have to teach you.

  • When I am treating (hands on healing work), or teaching movement medicine, or writing my novel I am sharing in a way that feels sacred and this kind of connection is what life is all about. I love to foster these kinds of relationships that feel deep and sacred with my clients.

  • I have years of learning about plant medicines and healing foods, and know how to make tinctures and salves and old fashioned home remedies. I know how to use food to cure inflammation and rebalance the gut. I can share this with you too. It’s why I wrote my cookbook for antiinflammatory eating (CLICK HERE FOR THE COOK BOOK).

  • I live in Nicaragua on a 5 acre organic farm called Apothefinca that I built. It’s a little paradise full of beautiful plants, monkeys, dogs, chickens, cats, my family, gardeners and the good people who rent the Apothe-casita.

  • Academically I’ve done lots of studies. I have two degrees and plenty of certificates. Arts, Osteopathy, Yoga, Craniosacral therapy, Medicinal gardening, Chi Kung …. other things too but healing, nature, creativity are the areas in which I’ve studied most.
